Equipment for Start-upsMichigan Innovation Equipment Depot (MIED)Pfizer Global Research and Development, Ann Arbor SPARK, MichBio, Southwest Michigan First and Michigan’s Smart Zones have formed a consortium to establish the Michigan Innovation Equipment Depot. The mission is to provide life science start-up companies throughout Michigan with equipment resources to continue their growth. MIED equipment disbursements are intended for start-up companies and wet lab incubators.The purpose of MIED is to accelerate company commercialization by providing access to previously used laboratory equipment useful & valuable to a start-up company’s product research, development and manufacturing. Each SmartZone is responsible for due diligence of the companies which they certify as meeting the criteria outlined for MIED. Ann Arbor SPARK will be the administrator, receiving donated equipment/instruments, providing warehouse facilities, and distributing items to the companies. Company Eligibility requirements:
A license fee equal to 1% of the fair market value of the equipment received will be charged. Upon successful company registration, an equipment request form will be emailed to registrants. In the event of multiple requests for equipment, the equipment review panel will give priority to companies who follow the MIED request stipulations and who detail need and/or priorities.
