MIR Preclinical Services (MIR) is a preclinical contract research organization (CRO) that specializes in evaluating novel drug candidates on a fee for service basis. The company is particularly focused on the disease areas of cancer and in the near future, inflammation/arthritis.

MIR employs a wide array of novel state-of-the-art imaging technologies to measure response to therapy at anatomical and molecular levels. With this technology, MIR can measure biological processes, such as signal transduction, angiogenesis, apoptosis (proteases), DNA damage, and other biologically relevant processes that can be difficult to measure otherwise.

Its disease models can be used to select compounds for clinical evaluation or more advanced preclinical evaluation, correlate mechanism of action with efficacy, evaluate pharmacokinetic and pharmacodynamic parameters, investigate both favorable and deleterious drug-drug interactions, and optimize formulations and treatment regimens.

MIR serves large pharmaceutical companies, biotech companies, and academic investigators in the US, Canada, Europe and Australia. Its expertise is unique in that the senior leadership delivers more than 80 years of combined large pharma drug discovery leadership experience and expertise to its client’s research projects. In addition no other CRO has the comprehensive array of state of the art imaging technologies that MIR offers its clients. MIR also maintains an active proprietary R&D program to create new imaging technologies.

MIR was incorporated in July of 2003, with three employees. At the end of 2007, the company will have more than 20 employees. MIR's average growth rate has been more than 40% per year. This growth has been fueled by its ability to offer unique technologies, and a consistent record of offering high quality, state of the art service at a strongly competitive price. MIR has quickly established a positive reputation within the drug discovery community.

MIR is rapidly expanding its service offerings. Initially focusing exclusively on cancer pharmacology, MIR is now expanding to offer a wide array of in vitro services and is rapidly expanding into additional therapeutic areas, the first of which is inflammation/arthritis.

MIR’s recent advancements have far exceeded their expectations. The recent move to a new state of the art facility has allowed them to accommodate a substantial expansion and lead them to expand into a new market, therapeutics. It was recently awarded over $1 million in funding from the Michigan Economic Development Council to invest in additional technology and personnel. MIR has become renowned worldwide as a quality provider of research services.
