School Districts
The Washtenaw County Intermediate School District divides the county into 10 school districts.
- The Ann Arbor school district (16,907 students) includes Ann Arbor City; Ann Arbor Township; Barton Hills Village; and parts of the townships of Lodi, Northfield, Pittsfield, Scio, Superior and Webster.
- The Chelsea school district (2,884 students) consists of Chelsea City; Sylvan Township; parts of the townships of Dexter, Lima and Lyndon; and parts of eastern Jackson County including Waterloo.
- The Dexter school district (3,447 students) is made up of Dexter Village; parts of the townships of Dexter, Lima, Scio, and Webster; as well as parts of southern Livingston County.
- The Lincoln school district (5,049 students) contains parts of the townships of Augusta, York and Ypsilanti, as well as parts of western Wayne County.
- The Manchester school district (1,346 students) carries Manchester Village; parts of the townships of Bridgewater, Freedom, Manchester and Sharon; and parts of eastern Jackson County.
- The Milan school district (2,247 students) includes Milan City, parts of the townships of Augusta and York, as well as parts of northern Monroe County including Azalia, Cone and Oakville.
- The Saline school district (5,624 students) consists of Saline City, parts of the townships of Bridgewater, Freedom, Lodi, Pittsfield, Saline and York.
- The Whitmore Lake school district (1,290 students) is made up of Whitmore Lake; parts of the townships of Northfield and Webster; and parts of southern Livingston County, including Hamburg.
- The Willow Run school district (2,770 students) is squeezed between Ypsilanti and western Wayne County.
- The Ypsilanti school district (4,390 students) draws from Ypsilanti City and parts of the townships of Superior and Ypsilanti. Student population totals are from the WISD's School Summary: 2004-2005 Fourth Wednesday Student Headcount by Building and Grade report.
